Port Adelaide

Port Adelaide was first declared a port in 1837. Today it is a bustling maritime suburb with so many things to do and see that it is well worth a visit. One of the first things you may notice are the colourful murals. The Port Adelaide Visitor Information Centre can provide you with a street art map. If you are interested in history then visit one of the many museums in Port Adelaide. This includes the National Railway Museum, the South Australia Aviation Museum and the South Australian Maritime Museum. For something a bit different you might try the Port Adelaide Ghost Crime Tour. You will learn where the ghosts are said to still hang out and even visit some of the haunted buildings. 

 

Art Gallery of South Australia

The Art Gallery of South Australia (AGSA) was established in 1881 and was originally known as the National Gallery of South Australia. Located in the centre of Adelaide, the gallery is open daily from 10:00 am till 5:00 pm. General admission is free though there may be a charge for some special exhibitions. The Art Gallery of South Australia is home to nearly 47,000 pieces of art produced over the past 2,000 years. The gallery is wheelchair accessible and they will even provide one for you free of charge. If you have children or are a kid at heart then make sure to visit The Studio. Here you can have a hands-on chance to experiment with painting, weaving, sculpting and more.
