One of the largest festivals in Western Australia has to be the big New Year’s bash, Origin Fields Festival. Held at the magnificent Langley Park in Perth, the music event has expanded in recent years and now covers two days.

The music format is quite diverse and you can expect anything from Grime to Indie, with some of the very best Australian artists appearing.

Subsonic Music Festival

6th - 8th December 2019 - NSW

This highly popular House and Techno festival is now in its tenth year and remains as strong as ever. All the fun happens at Riverwood Down in New South Wales and the music format has changed little over the decade that this event has been running.

The organisers behind the Subsonic Music Festival have placed the exploration of electronic sounds their main priority, and they bill this festival as a place where creativity can bloom!

Some of the most revered artists in House and Techno will be appearing in 2019, including: Roi Perez, Sonja Moonear, Ricardo Villalobos, San Proper, Derrick May, Saorise, Leon Vynehall, and Craig Richards.

Lost Paradise

28th December 2019 - 1st January 2020 - NSW

Another mega music event in New South Wales this Christmas time is Lost Paradise. Held in the enchanting Glenworth Valley, Lost Paradise is much more than just a music festival. There are many activities going on all during the day before the bands take the stage later on in the afternoon.

There are workshops, yoga classes, lectures on healing arts and many other diverse things to keep the punters entertained. As for the music it is diverse as the other activities and this year’s lineup shows that.

Appearing this year are: Honey Dijon, Rufus Du Sol, Dennis Sulta, Dom Dolla, Green Velvet, Golden Features, and Matt Corby.

Beyond the Valley

28th December 2019 - 1st January 2020 - Victoria

Beyond the Valley is now in its fourth year, and the festival that started on Philip Island has grown into one of Victoria’s premier New Year’s Events. The new venue is Lardner only a couple of hours drive from Melbourne and attracts a large crowd from the city.

The normal EDM faces will attend and feature: Matt Corby, Rufus Du Sol, Tyler, the Creator, Floating Points, Green Velvet, and Honey Dijon.

St. Jerome’s Laneway Festival

1st - 9th February 2020

This most diverse of festivals started a decade ago near Melbourne and has been held at assorted different venues all over Australia ever since. The Laneway Festival is renowned for giving lesser artists a start along with other internationally famous acts.

In February the lineup includes: King Gizzard & The Lizzard Wizard, Charli XCX, J.I.D, Earl Sweatshirt, Ocean Alley, and Ruel.

Electric Gardens

22nd February 2020

Electric Gardens is a moveable feast and will be travelling to Sydney, Melbourne, Perth, and Adelaide in 2020 with its brand of EDM music. The organisers, Anton Marmot and Damian Gelle met in London in the 1990’s and were instigators of the Southwest Four Festival on Clapham Common.

Now back in Australia the pair have launched Electric Gardens and tour the major cities with some of the biggest EDM DJ’s in the world.

If last year had anything to go by then the DJ roster should be as strong as those that appeared in 2019: Matador, Fatboy Slim, Sigma, Paul Van Dyk, Patrick Topping, Underworld, and Erik Morillo.
