Stretching from Lumpini Park south to the river, Sathorn has some of Bangkok's finest hotels. The area also boasts many upmarket serviced apartments and some fine restaurants serving local and international food. Sathorn is a fairly "new" area, and is very popular with long-stay visitors and business travellers.

Chatuchak

Chatuchak acquired its name from the large public park in the area, it is really the gateway to other areas in the north of Bangkok, such as Ladprao and Vipawadee Rangsit. JJ Market is also situated here, and is one of Bangkok's favourite weekend markets for just about every type of shopping imaginable.

Silom

The financial center of Silom is Bangkok's most prestigious district for corporate businesses. With many bank headquarters, 5 star hotels, top apartment buildings and office skyscrapers. The nightlife in Silom is legendary and is centered around the Patpong night market and all the soi's around. There is also a diverse restaurant scene and smaller malls and boutique shops are situated here.

Siam

Siam is the epicentre of Bangkok's shopping malls: MBK, Siam Discovery Center, Siam Center and Siam Paragon are all based here. Most of the leisure activity is centered around Siam Square, where cinemas, restaurants, cafes and bars abound.
