Parliament House
Parliament House is home to the legislative branch of the Australian Government. It is located on Capital Hill in Canberra. It is a distinctive boomerang-shaped building that was first opened in 1988. The roof has a grass walkway where you can take in spectacular views of the city of Canberra. The architecture features two circular granite walls designed to mirror the curves of the hill. The foyer recreates the look and feel of a eucalyptus forest with 48 columns of greenish-grey marble illuminated to create this effect. Lake Burley Griffin
Described as the centrepiece of Canberra, Lake Burley Griffin is a manmade lake in the geographic centre of Canberra. There are many ways to experience this aquatic playground. The Australian National Botanic Gardens
The Australian National Botanic Gardens are about one kilometre from the city centre of Canberra on the slopes of Black Mountain. The gardens are open every day except Christmas from 8:30 am until 5:00 pm. You can walk the park either on your own or with one of their guides. If walking is not for you then consider the Flora Explorer bus tour. This is a 45-minute guided tour of the gardens in their electric open-air minibus.
